The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has announced the appointment of its new office bearers today. However, this time, the post of national organizer has been left vacant with a request for Basil Rajapaksa to assume the position at a later point, according to a party official.
These decisions were made during a meeting of the party’s executive committee, which took place at the official residence of leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
MP Sagara Kariyawasam has been reappointed as the General Secretary, while MP Pavitra Wanniarachchi has been appointed as the new treasurer of the party.
Ven. Uthurawala Dammaratana Thera has been reappointed as the chairman of the party.
In addition, the SLPP has also appointed members to its politburo, and this time, deputy national organizers’ positions have been created. The party is expected to select a Tamil and Muslim candidate for these positions in the future.
