Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) plans to recruit a fresh physiotherapist and trainer for the national team, as per reliable sources in Colombo. SLC is contemplating the idea of employing local individuals for the positions. This will be a temporary arrangement until professionals from foreign countries are shortlisted, disclosed a source familiar with the process. The recruitment process has commenced with the advertisement of the vacancies, and soon the shortlisting and interviewing of candidates will begin, the source added. The national team’s physiotherapist, Chris Clarke, and trainer, Grant Luden, have both resigned from their respective roles immediately after the World Cup. It is worth noting that Luden was also associated with the High Performance Center (HPC). Additionally, SLC is actively searching for coaching staff for the various teams. The head coach of the senior team, Chris Silverwood, who is currently on holiday in England with his family, is expected to return shortly after the Christmas break. He will then take charge of the national team for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe, which will consist of three T-20Is and three ODIs. Another source revealed that the players have already begun their preparations for the bilateral matches, and Silverwood will have ample time to get his team ready. Sanath Jayasuriya, SLC’s newly appointed consultant, will play a role in selecting the new support staff members for the various teams and the HPC.
