Today, Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry announced that Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) will soon commence flights between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. During the Committee Stage debate on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Sabry revealed that the Saudi Arabian Economic Affairs Minister had provided assurance during a meeting that necessary measures would be taken to initiate these flights in the near future.

Minister Sabry further highlighted the Ministry’s success in facilitating the operation of flights to Sri Lanka by airlines that had previously not operated in the country. Through fruitful discussions with various nations, the Ministry was able to bring in airlines such as Air China, Malindo Airways, Thai AirAsia, Vistara, Air Astana, SpiceJet, Air Seychelles, and Air Arabia to provide their services to Sri Lanka.
