The Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Unit, in collaboration with the Katunayaka Air Cargo Terminal Customs Office, successfully confiscated a quantity of 10.5 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs. 270 million. This significant seizure was made possible through a joint operation. The illicit drugs, concealed within multiple bath towels, had been smuggled into the country from Lahore, Pakistan. The Katunayake air cargo terminal served as the location where the contraband was discovered. The package containing the illegal substances was addressed to a businessman residing in Thihariya. As part of the operation, two individuals who arrived at the Customs office to claim the goods were apprehended and taken into custody. Both the seized heroin and the suspects have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.
