Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa arrived at Parliament donning a black and white shawl, symbolizing his plea for worldwide peace. During his entrance, an MP inquired whether his attire indicated support for Palestine or Israel. Premadasa clarified that he did not favor either side, but rather wore the shawl as a call for global peace. He expressed concern over the numerous countries aligning themselves with one faction, predominantly favoring Israel. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of condemning violence from both parties. Premadasa advocated for a two-state solution to address the Gaza crisis, emphasizing the need for coexistence between Israel and Palestine. It is worth noting that unlike MPs like Rauff Hakeem and Dilan Perera, Premadasa’s shawl did not feature a flag.
