Premadasa clarified that he did not favor either side, but rather wore the shawl as a call for global peace. He expressed concern over the numerous countries aligning themselves with one faction, predominantly favoring Israel. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of condemning violence from both parties. Premadasa advocated for a two-state solution to address the Gaza crisis, emphasizing the need for coexistence between Israel and Palestine.
