With the increasing rains, two sluice gates of the Victoria Reservoir opened automatically last night, the reservoir engineer’s office said.

They said since the water capacity of the reservoir reached 722 million cubic metres, the sluice gates were opened and 159 cubic metres of water per second were released from the reservoir.

This is the first time that the atomatic sluice gates have opened this year.

The engineer’s office requested those living down-stream to be alert for flood situations.
