Heavy showers above 75 mm will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 1.00 p.m, including in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Uva Provinces, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.
They said showers may occur at some places in the Northern and Eastern Provinces and in the Hambantota district during the morning too.
Misty conditions expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces during the morning.
Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the department said showers will occur in seaside areas around the island, particularly during the afternoon or night.
The winds will be south-easterly in direction or variable over the sea areas around the island. The wind speed will be 30 kmph, and the sea areas around the island will be slightly rough.
