The trade unions have accused the CID of only catching the small players while the main culprits remain at large in relation to the import of substandard Immunoglobulin injections. Representatives of the health trade unions have stated that although some individuals, including the MSD director, have been arrested, the true masterminds behind this scandal have not been apprehended. The unions believe that such a large-scale operation could not have taken place without the involvement of key individuals such as the Minister, health secretary, and NMRA top officials. Therefore, they are urging the CID to expedite their investigations and bring the real culprits to justice. Dr. Rukshan Bellana, President of the Government Medical Officers’ Forum, expressed serious concerns about the ongoing investigations, emphasizing that the main perpetrators have yet to be caught. Similarly, Ravi Kumudesh, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists, highlighted the lack of clarity regarding the fate of the patients who have received these substandard injections.
