The Ministry of Transport and Highways has announced that special public transport services will be available during the festive season, starting today, December 22nd.
To accommodate the increased number of travelers returning to their respective hometowns for the holidays, an additional fleet of 100 buses will be deployed for all long-distance journeys.
In addition to the bus services, a special train service for the festive season will commence tomorrow, December 23rd, as mentioned by the General Manager of Railways, N.J. Indipolage.
To ensure smooth travel, a special timetable has been introduced for trains operating between Colombo Fort and Badulla. This timetable will be in effect until December 31st.
For December 22nd, the train will depart from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30pm, and the return journey from Badulla to Colombo Fort will depart at 5:20pm.
On December 23rd, there will be two departures from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30am and 7:30pm respectively. Additionally, there will be a departure from Kandy to Badulla at 7:00pm. The return journey from Badulla to Colombo Fort will depart at 5:20pm.
On December 24th, the train will depart from Badulla to Colombo Fort at 7:45am, and there will be a departure from Badulla to Kandy at 10:45am.
On December 25th, there will be departures from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30am and 7:30pm respectively. There will also be a departure from Kandy to Badulla at 7:00am. The return journey from Badulla to Colombo Fort will depart at 5:20pm.
On December 26th, the train will depart from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30pm. There will be a departure from Badulla to Colombo Fort at 7:45am, and a departure from Badulla to Kandy at 10:45am. Additionally, there will be a departure from Badulla to Colombo at 5:20pm.
On December 27th, there will be a departure from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30am.
On December 28th, there will be a departure from Badulla to Colombo Fort at 7:45am.
