The Department of Meteorology has forecasted an increase in showery weather conditions over the Northern, North-central, and Eastern provinces starting from today (26).

In the Eastern province, showers will occur intermittently. Meanwhile, the Northern, North-central, and Uva provinces will experience several spells of showers.

After 2.00 p.m., there is a possibility of showers or thundershowers in a few areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Expect fairly strong winds, reaching speeds of about 30-40 kmph, at times in the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, and in the Hambantota district.

During the morning, misty conditions may be observed in certain areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize any potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
