State Minister Sarath Nishantha has urged Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana to take action against SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha, who was found to be live recording Parliament sessions on social media. The State Minister highlighted that despite the Speaker’s order to cease such activities, MP Jayamaha continued to engage in live recording, thereby violating Standing Order 91. Additionally, the State Minister expressed concern over the behavior of certain MPs, including Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, who has challenged them to physical altercations. The State Minister emphasized that such behavior cannot be tolerated as it infringes upon his parliamentary privileges. In response, MP Jayamaha dismissed the relevance of Standing Order 91 to recording, stating that it pertains to insulting fellow MPs. He criticized those who are unaware of the standing orders and urged for restrictions on their actions.
