Former President Donald Trump has been deemed ineligible to run for president in Colorado due to the “insurrectionist ban” outlined in the 14th Amendment, according to a ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court. The court upheld a previous decision by a trial judge, who determined that Trump’s involvement in the January 6, 2021, insurrection warranted his disqualification from the state’s 2024 ballot. However, the court’s ruling will be temporarily suspended until January 4, pending a potential appeal to the US Supreme Court.
