A unique train voyage has commenced this morning from Colombo Fort Railway Station to Beliatta, in remembrance of the train passengers and railway employees who were affected by the Tsunami tragedy on December 26, 2004, at Peraliya Railway Station.
This special commemorative train departed from Maradana railway station at 6.25 a.m. and from Colombo Fort railway station at 6.50 a.m.
According to reports, the train embarked on its journey with the no. 591 train engine, which was involved in the Tsunami train accident in 2004 at Peraliya Railway Station.
The officials of Colombo Fort railway station also offered floral tributes within the train, as reported by Ada Derana.
Furthermore, the train will make a ten-minute stop at Pareliya railway station, allowing passengers to pay their respects at the tsunami memorial by offering floral tributes.
