The National Meteorological Centre’s Forecasting Division announced today that most provinces of the island can expect cloudy skies, with heavy showers of approximately 100 mm in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-Western, and Eastern Provinces.
During the morning, showers are predicted to occur specifically in the North-Western Province.
In the sea areas off the coast, ranging from Colombo to Mullaitivu via Galle, Hambantota, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee, there will be showers or thundershowers. Additionally, showers will be experienced in various locations in the other sea areas surrounding the island.
The prevailing winds will be North-Easterly, with a speed of around 35 kmph. However, in the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai, the wind speed may increase up to 50 kmph.
At times, the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai may experience rough conditions. The other sea areas around the island will be moderately rough.
Furthermore, the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Trincomalee via Galle and Hambantota may also encounter rough conditions, accompanied by temporarily strong gusty winds of up to 70 kmph during thundershowers.
