In response to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Sports Harin Fernando stated that the International Cricket Council (ICC) does not take into account what is discussed in Parliament regarding Sri Lanka’s cricket. Minister Fernando emphasized that the ICC operates differently and therefore, it is pointless to discuss cricket matters in the House. He further mentioned that some individuals, including the Leader of the Opposition, fail to comprehend this fact. Minister Fernando’s statement was in reference to a comment made by MP Premadasa regarding cricket. Additionally, Minister Fernando highlighted that legal action against corrupt individuals in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been entrusted to the Attorney General, and the sports law will be amended based on the recommendations of the Chithrasiri report.
